Jared Goronkin portrait

Jared Goronkin | M.S. (RIT)

I am a multi-faceted, technically empowered Game Developer seeking a chance to complement the efforts of a passionate development team.

  • Earned my M.S. in Game Design and Development from RIT, a graduate program ranked #3 in the nation where I applied my research on how animations can be leveraged to drive gameplay to my capstone and implemented various procedural terrain generation techniques.
  • Personally developed Mosaic, a Unity package that has helped teams develop and refine gameplay features with less technical overhead, resulting in shipping builds faster.
  • Led engineering and production on Echoes in the Mist, a PC game powered by Mosaic.
  • Showcased work at GDC (NYS Pavilion, twice), RetroGameCon, RPI GameFest, Roc Game Fest, EDGE, and Imagine RIT
  • Co-founded an independent student initiative that raised $30K+ to send 12 students to GDC.

Testimonials

“I’ve rarely encountered a student team so driven to achieve excellence, and much of that came from Jared’s leadership. Echoes in the Mists stood out as one of the strongest games developed that year.”
— Sten McKinzie | Graduate Program Director, RIT

“Jared Goronkin was an excellent student in my Game Graphics Programming class, demonstrating strong performance in mastering a wide range of low-level graphics concepts, from rendering pipeline fundamentals to advanced topics such as multi-shader programming. For his final project, he implemented a real-time mesh generation system using compute shaders and a scalar-field-based chunking approach to efficiently handle complex marching-cube structures at multiple levels of detail. I also served as one of advisors for Jared’s capstone team project. Beyond his technical contributions, Jared took the lead in coordinating production, communicating progress with advisors, and ensuring the team met key milestones, including pitches, playtests, and a showcase at the GDC conference. His team game achieved exceptional quality across narrative design, gameplay mechanics, and graphical implementation. Jared consistently demonstrated strong communication skills, leadership, and collaboration, which are the qualities that make him a standout team player.”
— Chao Peng, MFA, PhD | Associate Professor, Interactive Games & Media, RIT
